2/18: Overture: An introduction to 19th c. Italian Opera. An historical overview of 5 of Italy's greatest composers of opera and a sampling of their glorious music.

2/25: Gioacchino Rossini's SEMIRAMIDE. The great dramatic work by the master of Italian comic opera.

3/04: Vincenzo Bellini's NORMA. The sublime bel canto masterpiece that strikes terror in the hearts of sopranos.

3/11: Gaetano Donizetti's L'ELISIR D'AMORE. The Elixir of Love is a favorite romantic operatic romp in which everyone is alive and happy at the end!

3/18: Giuseppe Verdi's IL TROVATORE. Verdi's dramatic transitional masterpiece about gypsies, Counts and a kidnapped baby in which no one is happy and few are alive at the end!

3/25: Giacomo Puccini's LA BOHEME. Puccini's most popular opera of doomed young love in Paris a century and a half ago.
