A Passion for Opera, Santa Rosa Junior College

Fall 2001 (10/04/01 - 11/08/01)

All You have to Do is Listen! (Act Four)

10/4: How Important is Voice in Opera? In this age of minimalist productions, egotistical, tyrannical directors, slim fast diets for singers and box office hype, let's not forget that opera is also about the human voice! Plus we'll begin our exploration of Richard Wagner and Lohengrin.

10/11: Richard Wagner's LOHENGRIN

10/18: George Frideric Handel's GIULIO CESARE. (About as far from Wagner as you can get!)

10/25: Giacomo Puccini's Verismo Masterpiece: TOSCA

10/31: Optional! Halloween at San Francisco Opera: Tosca with Eva Urbanova & Richard Leech. Limited Number of Tickets Available. Orchestra Seats

11/01: Charles Gounod's Blockbuster (and only hit): FAUST

11/08: Georges Bizet's CARMEN. We'll end the course with a lot of passion in Seville.
